Product Description

A very nice Belgian flintlock naval pistol made in the 1840's-1860's. The pistol features a 9-inch .69 bore barrel, heavy steel fittings with brass furniture and heavy brass butt and lanyard, and the wood with a wonderful dark patina. The lanyard loop at the base of the butt allowed this pistol, along with a second one, to be hung on either end of a scarf, so while swiftly boarding an enemy vessel both pistols would be loaded and ready for use. In excellent, clean condition with only minor cracks and wood splits. Action is strong and tight. 15" overall length. This is an antique and not warranted safe to shoot and it should not be attempted without the aid of an expert. With custom metal stand (entire display measures 15”L x 2”W x 7.5”H). Ex Willoughby, OH collection.
